Freelance TV/Movie News Writer

We are looking for eager freelance Movie/TV News writers to cover news and features related to Movies and TV Shows for TheNerdStash.com. As a Movie/TV news writer, potential applicants will be responsible for creating content to make sure we are covering blockbusters and any news about actors/actresses, release dates, movie and tv releases, and everything else that is important in these industries. Selected candidates will have many career opportunities within the organization and invited to things such as screenings, interviews with cast from TV, movies, and more!

The Nerd Stash is an established News/Media company that has been around for over six years, covering daily news in the areas of movies, TV, video games, technology, and comics.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a passion for the variety of content we cover including movies, TV, video games, technology, and comics.

Although having experience as a Movie/TV writer is a plus, it’s not required! We have found some of our most successful writers joined our team with little experience but a ton of passion! Our approach is to work closely with our staff, build excellent working relationships, and provide flexibility to make it a positive environment.

Requirements:

• Able to maintain a weekly commitment to write a minimum of 4 news articles per week.
• Be aware of trending topics such as movie release dates, upcoming movies, actor/actress roles, and other news/rumors in the industry.
• Work under a strict deadline and submit content on time.
• Well verse in TV/Movie history, culture, and franchises such as DC, MCU, Star Wars, Star Trek, popular streaming series.
• Pitch story ideas when none are readily available
• Implement feedback provided by the editorial team.
• Keep an open line of communication with our editorial team.
• Learning and following the processes regarding SEO guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant experience in writing and editing.
• Experience writing in WordPress.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to properly source from different websites.
• Ability to edit images.
• Experience with SEO standards.
• Google Analytics.
• Google Trends.
