Wordpress Developer

We are excited to open a role for a 3-month contracted Wordpress Developer at our award-winning agency.

As a Wordpress Developer with our team, you will be responsible for executing best-in-class new website builds as well as feature and template updates to existing websites across a portfolio of client websites. Working with our team of designers and project managers and overseen by a senior engineer, we are looking for someone with strong expertise in WordPress theme development using modern standards for HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, native JS (ES6), latest Bootstrap libraries, and is familiar with Gutenberg, ACF Pro, Gravity Forms, Composer, NodeJS, and Git (for collaborative development). The ideal candidate should be capable of implementing pixel-perfect responsive web builds based on provided designs.

This contract role can be remote, or optional hybrid remote around our New York City or Nashville office.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement highly optimized and customizable WordPress sites, themes, plugins, custom post types, page templates, widgets, content blocks, etc. based on developer-ready Adobe XD files
• Write clean, valid code using modern standards and libraries (HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, native JS-ES6)
• Leverage the latest Gutenberg editor capabilities to create scalable Wordpress editing experiences
• Perform tasks related to WordPress environment installations, base configurations, and upgrades
• Integrating with third-party RESTful APIs and micro-services
• Perform reliable troubleshooting, Q/A and testing for one’s own work, including implementing backwards compatibility testing for older browsers as needed
• Deliver bug-free, lightning-fast, flexible builds with punctuality and precision
• Communicate with project managers regularly through project checkpoint meetings, code reviews, and project management tools

Requirements:

• Expert understanding of WordPress development (front-end & back) including providing support for Gutenberg
• Well versed with popular WordPress plugins, especially ACF Pro & Gravity Forms
• Experienced with PHP 7.2 or later
• Experienced in collaborative development with version control (GIT)
• Expertise in latest version of Bootstrap framework (good understanding of flexbox), HTML5/CSS3 valid coding, SCSS, JS (ES6 familiarity), Babel transpiler
• Composer & NodeJS (NPM), Task managers (gulp, webpack, etc)
• Fully responsive, fluid design production (not just predefined views)
• Cross-browser and cross-device compatibility
• Must support all major browsers, devices and ie11+
• Well versed in page speed optimization + best practices
• Familiarity with local, dev, staging, production environment implementations
• Available in our time zone (EST New York) for daily communication for updates/check-ins
• Nice to have: experience building using front-end frameworks such as React, AngularJS/Angular,Vue.js.
