Part-Time WordPress Developer Contractor

The Federal Savings Bank is hiring a part-time contractor with demonstrable experience in WordPress. The WordPress Developer will maintain a modern WordPress environment using a mix of front-end and back-end development experience. This is a part-time, contracted position based in our Chicago (Logan Square) corporate office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Support the TFSB consumer website. Work end-to-end, planning, building, testing, and deploying solutions in partnership with the marketing team and other IT resources
• Perform routine administration: add pages, menu items and assist technical needs to maintain content within WordPress
• Maintain version control for WordPress core, themes, and 3rd party plugins
• Work in a staging environment and Q/A changes before to deployment
• Understand CSS changes and ramifications for consistent style across platforms and browsers
• Build/Update blocks, themes, pages templates and plug-ins for WordPress
• Ensure the TFSB website is fast and visible for search engines
• Ensure compliance with data protection frameworks like CCPA
• Build, implement and troubleshoot WordPress templates, themes, functionality, and plugins
• Assist with theme and functionality changes, advising on plugin configuration, adding custom post types

Job Requirements

Education and/or Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related technical field
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related technical field preferred

Experience Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working in both back-end and front-end roles
• 3+ years of professional WordPress development experience
• Hands-on experience working with Application Programing Interfaces
• Willingness to take direction, conceptualize and organize marketing projects on your own as needed
• Understanding of development best practices, that is repeatable and allows for quick iteration

Technology Requirements

• Hands-on experience working with Application Programing Interfaces
• Hands-on experience working PHP, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, MySQL & GitHub

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Ads, Google Ads, and other marketing systems especially as they relate to pixels , Server Side Tagging, and conversion APIs.
• Experience with Gutenberg and WordPress block editors (Creating custom blocks/patterns)
• Ability to convert comprehensive layouts and wireframes into working pages
