Job Title: WordPress Developer


Location: Cardiff/ London/ Remote


Salary: £30,000 - £35,000


What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a WordPress Developer to own and maintain our marketing website. You will be the single point of contact for the website design, responsible for setting our website management and strategy. You will also collaborate with other marketers and business stakeholders to implement website changes, boost performance and report on results.


The role will responsible for front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins. You’ll need a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding website navigation and customer journey, element arrangements on the screen, colour and font choices etc). The role will work very closely with our digital acquisition marketer to ensure the website is optimised to support online acquisition and audience building. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of web design trends and content management systems.


As a WordPress Developer at Sonovate, you’ll use your skills to own our website, making updates and edits where required, and adding new pages. You’ll primarily work from home but enjoy our hybrid approach to work where you’ll join your team once a week in either our London or Cardiff office based on your location.

Skills you'll need:

  • Proven experience in WordPress development and maintenance of WordPress websites.
  • At least 12 months experience as a FeD, you’ll be able to demonstrate your work with a strong portfolio of coded sites
  • Fluency in WordPress coding standards: PHP, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Proven experience with WordPress templating engines. We use Laravel Blade templates.
  • Strong understanding of customer journey mapping and optimisation.
  • Strong technical SEO skills
  • Experience with responsive and adaptive website creation is preferred.
  • Website analytics and reporting
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Appreciation of visual design and its importance in customer acquisition
  • A ‘lifelong learner’ attitude with a hunger for new skills, experience and knowledge
  • Lateral thinking ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions
  • Collaborative and able to work with other teams as the single point of contact about all incoming website requests.
  • An understanding of marketing automation and email marketing would also be great.

  • A hands-on test will be conducted in 2nd step interviews.
