UI Engineer (WordPress)

Your opportunity

As a UI Engineer at Mollie, you’ll be responsible for bringing to life the best-in-class experience for our website. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of designers, SEO specialists, and full-stack engineers to build, maintain, and improve the new WordPress website.

Mollie’s website uses a custom-built solution on top of WordPress, which is used as the tool to create and manage content by other Mollie’s teams in an autonomous way for better scalability and efficiency. At this moment, we are working on several initiatives to improve the overall user experience for our customers, partners, and developers, on a hyper-localized website solution, and attending to the multiple website stakeholders' requirements.

Mollie is one of the fastest-growing companies in Europe, and we are facing many exciting technical and organizational challenges. You will play a key role in developing new and maintaining existing features, and you’ll have the opportunity to shape the rest of your career at Mollie.

What you'll be doing:

  • You’ll be bringing to life the design, the animations, and the experience vision of the design team, with scalability, performance, accessibility, and security at high standards.
  • You’ll build, optimize, and maintain the website's front-end and user experience across different browsers and devices.
  • You’ll craft new blocks to be used inside the WordPress block editor.
  • You’ll also be supporting the design team in assessing new UX requirements from a technical perspective.

Our architecture:

  • Mollie’s website is built on top of a WordPress multisite/multi-language environment and uses the WordPress block editor as the content builder.
  • The block editor uses mainly custom-made blocks, offering a close-to-real editing experience to internal users.

What you'll bring:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience developing appealing and responsive web interfaces.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as React, Svelte, or Vue.
  • Knowledge of language primitives. You should feel comfortable interacting with native APIs built into the browser.

Nice to have:

  • You have experience mentoring other engineers and like to help others grow in their careers.
  • Experience with test-driven development.
  • Experience with TypeScript is an advantage.
  • Experience with Framer Motion or similar.
  • Experience with PHP.
