WordPress Web Developer : Rhombus Studio


Spec

Full time role (5 days per week - Mon - Fri).

9am - 5pm (up to 1 hour lunch break).

Salary £30,000 - £40,000

4 days in the studio with an optional day working remotely.

Option for remote working up to 2 weeks a year abroad.

Minimum of 3 years experience of working either in an agency environment or in a freelance capacity.


Overview

Rhombus Studio? are looking for a talented and experienced WordPress Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining websites using WordPress. You will work on a range of projects for a range of different brands and will work closely with our team of web designers to build our sites. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting any technical issues that arise and ensuring that websites are optimized for speed and performance.

Progression

This role has growth in mind. As Rhombus grows your responsibility and role within the business will grow too. This could include leading a team, being more involved with larger more technical projects or shifting into a hybrid management role if the need arises.


Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Building websites using WordPress for a range of clients, both corporate and cultural.
  • Concepting and collaborating with the design team on wireframes and web designs, lending your expertise to ensure that potential problems are avoided at the design stage.
  • Maintaining websites on our WP Engine server, ensuring that all plugins and themes are up to date and the sites are working as intended.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging technical issues that arise on websites.
  • Ensuring all websites work on mobile, desktop and tablet platforms.
  • Collaborating with other developers on larger projects that require multiple developers.
  • Ensuring that websites are optimised for speed and performance.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in WordPress development.
  • Performing updates and maintenance on WordPress sites.


Essential Skills

  • Experience building websites from the ground up using WordPress.
  • Experience using ACF Pro, Gravity Forms, WooCommerce and WP Mail SMTP plug-ins.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, php and ES6 Javascript.
  • Experience with responsive design and mobile-first development.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and optimization techniques.
  • An eye for design and layout aesthetics and the ability to match Figma designs exactly.
  • Good understanding of UX.
  • Experience with testing and debugging.
  • Time and deadline management.
  • Ability to confidently communicate your ideas and explain things so non-developers can understand.
  • Communicate clearly with our team and clients on Zoom, Slack and in-person.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects efficiently and simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Bonus Skills

  • Basic knowledge of Figma.
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs
  • Understanding of DNS configuration, CDNs and SSL certificates.
  • Integrating animation onto websites - whether that's custom lottie files our motion team have made or creating elegant transitions, hovers and reactive cursors.

  • Further develop web development skills.
  • Research and development of how to integrate AI into our web development process.
  • Interactive websites / Animation for websites.
  • Plus anything else you’re keen to learn or develop!
