Sr Web developer - Wordpress

The Position:

Apptio’s Marketing department is looking for an experienced WordPress web developer with a passion for understanding how their work helps achieves business objectives. Candidates should possess expert-level HTML/CSS/JS/PHP/MySQL experience on WordPress including handling cross-browser issues, DOM quirks, and HTML5 theory, server performance tuning, and data structure/taxonomy architecture. Responsibilities

You will be responsible for turning responsive designs into working web applications, implementing new features and functionality, establishing and guiding the website’s user experience, ensuring high site performance, and managing technical aspects of our Marketing web content workflow. Work closely with product owners, designers, digital marketers, and other stakeholders to ensure an effective, visually appealing, and intuitive implementation. Use your experience with a broad range of technology stacks, platforms and workflow tools to do your best, most efficient work and teach others to do the same.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Exceptional grasp of HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and MySQL in WordPress environments
• 7+ years of experience
• Experience developing responsive websites from comprehensive designs and wireframes
• Experience crafting taxonomies and data structures to address functional requirements
• Ability to gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs
• A habit of browser/device testing and performance testing all of your work
• Used version control in a team environment (ideally using Git)
• Empathy for the users of your products and anticipate their needs
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Experience developing web solutions in WordPress LAMP environments
• Knowledge of CSS, HTML, PHP files and theme functions, and knowledge of the WordPress theme layer
• Advanced site-building experience in WordPress including deep familiarity with components such as plugins, custom posts, and postmeta.
• Ability to architect enterprise Wordpress solutions and create custom WordPress plugins and themes
• Familiar working with design tools like Photoshop, Illustrator and Sketch
• Contributions to the open-source community
• Experience with basic digital marketing concepts such as SEO, SEM, and conversion optimization
