Summary of the role:

As a senior WordPress developer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing custom WordPress solutions for our clients. You will work closely with our project managers, designers, and other developers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality WordPress projects. Your primary focus will be on developing scalable, maintainable, and performant WordPress themes and plugins. You will also be expected to stay up-to-date with the latest WordPress trends, technologies, and best practices.

Responsibilities

1. Designing and developing custom WordPress themes and plugins that meet client requirements and specifications.
2. Collaborating with project managers, designers, and other developers to ensure the successful delivery of WordPress projects.
3. Maintaining and updating existing WordPress websites, plugins, and themes as needed.
4. Troubleshooting and debugging WordPress-related issues, identifying and resolving performance and security issues.
5. Staying up-to-date with the latest WordPress trends, technologies, and best practices, and sharing your knowledge with the team.
6. Conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to other developers to ensure the quality and maintainability of the codebase.
7. Mentoring and training junior developers to help build a strong and collaborative team culture.
8. Participating in project planning, estimation, and scoping sessions.
9. Identifying opportunities to improve our WordPress development process and implementing those improvements.
10. Communicating effectively and professionally with clients to understand their needs and provide updates on project progress.

Qualifications

Here is a list of qualifications that a senior WordPress developer should meet:

1. Proven experience as a WordPress developer, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
2. Strong knowledge of WordPress architecture, its core APIs, and popular plugins and themes.
3. Expertise in HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript, and familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React or Vue.js.
4. Proficiency in MySQL and database design.
5. Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
6. Experience with debugging tools and techniques, such as Xdebug or WP_DEBUG.
7. Familiarity with WordPress security best practices and experience implementing security features such as SSL, two-factor authentication, and firewalls.
8. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
9. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality code that is scalable, maintainable, and performant.
10. A passion for staying up-to-date with the latest WordPress trends, technologies, and best practices, and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with the team.
